Leading Animal Care

As the first college in the UK to offer distance learning in animal care, we started with a vision: to combine the convenience of studying at home with dedicated tutor support and a quality education in caring for animals.

Four decades on, we’ve expanded our offering, giving students from all walks of life the opportunity to choose from over 50 quality courses and career pathways, building on their love for animals, and turning care into a career.

On Your Terms

Our course materials are easy to use, well written and clearly structured, so whatever your routine, it’s easy to progress.

What’s more, you can start your course when you are ready. No waiting around for term to begin. No deadlines to disrupt your day to day.

Recognised by Industry Professionals

We’ve partnered with many of the UK’s leading providers in animal care, building a strong reputation for both our brand, and our courses.

We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built within the industry, and of the expertise this enables us to pass on to our students.

Accredited by Leading Bodies

Our courses have been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme*. This means that the Animal Care College has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The Quality Licence Scheme, endorses high-quality, non-regulated provision and training programmes.

The Quality Licence Scheme is part of the Skills and Education Group, a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives. With more than 110 years of collective experience, the Skills and Education Group’s strategic partnerships create opportunities to inform, influence and represent the wider education and skills sector.

Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

The accrediting body for the Animal Care College is the Pet Education, Training and Behaviour Council (PETbc).

In addition to their Animal Care College award, eligible students can choose to have their individual achievements recognised by the PETbc**. This endorsement means that courses have been externally verified and the Animal Care College has been approved and assured by the PETbc standards group of qualified professionals.

Animal Care College is affiliated with the Association of Distance Learning Colleges (ADLC). As a member college, we have agreed to abide by a rigorous code of ethics to give you an assurance of quality and fair dealing.

“I found the course incredibly informative and was amazed at how little I knew about feline behaviour. A brilliant course, invaluable to me and worth doing if you have a genuine interest in our ever-baffling feline friends.” - Elizabeth

“I wanted to study cat behavior because I have 5 cats and I breed and occasionally show. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for 14 years. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and cannot think of any way in which it could be improved.” - James

“I enjoyed the Feline First Aid course very, very much and found researching material interesting and have learnt a lot. The questions on this course were easy to understand and the course itself was interesting to read.” - Julie
